Privacy Policy — Dreadreef Pirate Battle

Last updated: October 22, 2026 · applies to version 0.9.5 and later

This Privacy Policy explains how the mobile game Dreadreef Pirate Battle (Android package com.offquantum.dreadreef, "the Game") handles information. This policy applies only to Dreadreef Pirate Battle. Other Off Quantum Studios apps, such as Cat Logistics, have their own privacy policies.

1. Who we are

The Game is developed by Off Quantum Studios, the professional project of Maicol Rulent and Graziano Zinnai, based in Turin (Italy). Off Quantum Studios is not currently a registered company. For personal data you send us by email, we act together as joint controllers under Article 26 of the GDPR; how we share our responsibilities is summarized in the Off Quantum Studios Privacy Policy.

2. Summary

3. Features and their status

Some features are always part of the Game; others are included in the code but are switched on only in the versions distributed on Google Play where we enable them. If your version of the Game does not show ads or offer purchases, the related sections below do not apply to you.

4. Information stored on your device

To let you continue playing, the Game saves the following information in the storage area that Android reserves for the Game on your device:

We do not receive this information and we cannot access it. It is deleted when you uninstall the Game or clear the Game's data in your device settings (see the data deletion page). Information that the libraries have already sent to Google or Unity is handled as described in sections 5 to 8 and 16.

Android device backup

If you have turned on backup on your Android device, Android may include the Game's saved data in your device backup, which is stored in your Google Account and managed by Google under Google's privacy policy. We do not receive or have access to these backups. You can manage backup in your device settings.

5. Advertising (Google AdMob)

In the versions where advertising is enabled, the Game shows banners, full-screen ads and, only if you choose to watch them, rewarded videos through Google AdMob, a service of Google (Google Ireland Limited for users in the European Economic Area and Switzerland, Google LLC elsewhere). To serve ads, measure their performance and prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process, according to Google's documentation:

According to Google's disclosure, this data is collected and shared for these purposes, under Google's own policies: the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Google may process it outside the European Economic Area with the safeguards described by Google. We do not receive this data in a form that identifies you.

Consent check at every launch

In the versions where advertising is enabled, the Game uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP), a consent management service of Google. Each time you start the Game, once the opening intro is over, the Game asks UMP whether a consent or privacy message applies to you. This happens:

To answer, Google receives your IP address, from which it can infer your approximate location (for example your country or region), and technical information about the request, which may include the Game's identifiers, the type of device and operating system and your language settings. Your choices are stored on your device by UMP. This processing is carried out by Google under the Google Privacy Policy.

Consent (European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google's consent platform shows you a consent message, and the Game requests ads only after your choice has been collected. If a cutscene is playing, the consent message appears as soon as it ends. You can accept, refuse or choose specific purposes. Whatever you choose, the Game asks Google not to show personalized ads or remarketing to anyone; depending on your choices, Google may show non-personalized ads or limited ads.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time in the Game: Settings → Ad privacy options. This button appears when Google's consent platform requires it. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before.

Choices for users in US states

Some US state privacy laws give you the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information or of targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money, and the Game asks Google to turn off personalized advertising and remarketing for everyone. However, under some of these laws, the disclosure of information such as advertising identifiers and your IP address to Google for advertising may be considered a "sale" or "sharing".

Where Google's consent platform makes this choice available for the Game in your state, you can opt out in Settings → Ad privacy options. Google's consent platform stores your choice on your device so that Google can apply it to the ads in the Game, as described in Google's policies. Opting out does not stop every transfer of data: to show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may still receive information such as your IP address and device identifiers. The opt-out concerns advertising. It does not change the processing needed for purchases (Google Play and Unity) or for Google Play Games, which the Game does not use for advertising. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID (see below), and you can make other requests as described in section 16.

Advertising ID

You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings (usually Settings → Privacy → Ads; the exact path may vary by device).

When ads appear

Ads become available only after about 15 minutes of actual play. Until then, the Game does not initialize Google's advertising library and does not request or load any ad: the only advertising-related request the Game makes is the consent check described above.

After that:

With the optional "No Ads" purchase, as soon as the purchase is recognized or restored, the Game removes the banner and stops showing and requesting banners and automatic full-screen ads, including at later launches. Rewarded videos remain available only if you choose to watch them.

Teen ad protections for all users

For all users, the Game asks Google to apply its teen ad protections, under which Google turns off personalized advertising and remarketing, and to limit ads to content rated for teenagers (Google's "T" rating) or lower. Google applies these settings on its servers. The Game does not ask for your age, so these protections apply to adult players too. They do not stop Google from receiving data: Google may still receive device identifiers, such as the advertising ID, and your IP address to serve and measure ads and to prevent fraud, as described above.

6. In-app purchases (Google Play and Unity In-App Purchasing)

In the versions where purchases are enabled, in-app purchases are handled by the Google Play billing system. Google processes the data needed for payment (such as payment method, billing address and purchase history) under the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Play Terms of Service. We do not receive your payment details. The Game receives from Google Play the confirmation of each purchase (product code, transaction identifier and purchase receipt), verifies it on your device and stores it locally to deliver and restore your purchases, including after reinstalling with the same Google account. When the Game starts, it also connects to Google Play to read product prices and the purchases you already own. Google's billing library may send technical and diagnostic information about these operations to Google. Refunds and cancellations are handled by Google Play.

The Game uses the Unity In-App Purchasing library (version 5.4) by Unity Technologies to communicate with the Google Play billing system. According to Unity's documentation for this version, the library collects, to make purchases work, a player identifier, a Unity installation identifier, device information, session identifiers and your country. Unity's disclosure for Google Play also lists approximate location, personal identifiers, purchase history, crash logs, diagnostics, other performance data and device or other identifiers. Unity's disclosure also mentions an email address; according to Unity's overview, an email address and some analytics and user identifiers are collected only if the developer or the user chooses to provide them. The Game does not ask for your email address and does not use Unity's web shop, Unity accounts or third-party payment providers.

Based on our review of the library version we use, in the Game it sends data to Unity's servers over HTTPS mainly during purchases: when a purchase starts, is completed, fails or is cancelled. This data can include the product and its price, the Google Play order number and purchase receipt (with the purchase token and date), the Game's version and information about your device, such as model, operating system version and language settings; Unity also receives your IP address. Because Unity may change its services, our description of the data and our answers in Google Play's Data safety section follow Unity's documentation.

Unity processes transaction data and in-app purchase data on our behalf (as our processor); for transaction and billing data it uses for its own purposes, such as financial reporting, legal compliance, security and fraud prevention, Unity acts as an independent controller. The library offers no consent setting of its own and no self-service deletion. Unity processes this data under the Unity Game Player and App User Privacy Policy. How to make a request about this data is explained in section 16 and on the data deletion page.

7. Google Play Games

The Game supports Google Play Games to record achievements on your Google account. Signing in is optional and you can play the whole Game without it. If you have a Google Play Games profile and your Play Games settings allow it, Google may sign you in automatically when the Game starts. The Game also checks your sign-in silently, without any prompt, when you move to another area of the Game and when you open Settings → Google Play Games, where you can also sign in whenever you like. Your Google Play Games profile and achievements are managed by Google under the Google Privacy Policy.

When you sign in, Google makes your Play Games identity (gamer name and avatar) available to the Game; the Game does not use it and does not store it. We do not receive or store your Google account data. While you are signed in, the Game tells Google which achievements you unlocked and your progress towards multi-step ones, calculated from counters saved on your device. Achievements earned while you are not signed in are kept on your device and sent the next time you sign in. According to Google, the Play Games library also collects analytics and diagnostic data to keep it stable and improve it. You can delete your Play Games data from your Play Games profile or your Google Account.

8. In-app updates and ratings (Google Play)

When the Game is installed from Google Play, it uses Google Play features to:

These features are provided by Google: to check for updates, Google uses information such as your device details and the installed version of the Game. We do not know whether or how you rate the Game: any rating or review you submit is published by Google on Google Play under your Google account (in closed tests it is sent privately to us through Google Play) and can be deleted from your Google Play account. Some screens of the Game also contain a link that opens the Game's page on Google Play, only if you tap it.

9. Local reminders (notifications)

The Game can show a reminder every two days. Reminders are scheduled on your device by Android: they do not go through any server, are not push notifications and do not collect data. On Android 13 and later the Game asks for permission only after you complete a mission, never at launch. You can turn reminders off at any time in the Game (Settings → Notifications) or in your Android settings.

10. Device permissions

The Game does not request access to your precise location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, files or other personal information on your device.

Some buttons open other apps, such as your web browser, your email app or the Google Play Store. This happens, for example, for the Off Quantum Studios website, this Privacy Policy, emails to support and pages on Google Play. When you leave the Game this way, the other app or website handles your information under its own privacy policy.

If you write to support@offquantumstudios.com, we receive your email address, the name you introduce yourself with and any information you choose to include. We use it to reply to you, never for advertising, and we don't sell it. These emails are handled as described in the Off Quantum Studios Privacy Policy, which explains the legal basis, the provider that hosts our mailbox, how long we keep messages and your rights.

12. Google Play

The Game is distributed through Google Play. Google may process information when you download, update or use apps from Google Play, for example to provide the store or, if you have chosen to share usage and diagnostic data with Google, to report app crashes. Google may provide developers with aggregated statistics and crash reports collected in this way. This processing is carried out by Google under the Google Privacy Policy.

For the processing described in this policy, we rely on the following legal bases:

14. Retention

We do not keep personal data collected through the Game on our own systems: game data stays on your device until you uninstall the Game or clear its data. Data processed by Google (AdMob, Google Play, Google Play Games) and by Unity (In-App Purchasing) is retained by them under their own policies.

15. Age of users and minors

The Game is intended for users aged 16 and over and is not directed to children. The Game does not ask for or check your age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16; if you believe a child under 16 has used the Game, please contact us and use the deletion options described in section 16.

Users aged 16 and 17 may be minors under the laws of their country. Some laws, including some US state privacy laws, set additional rules for the personal information of minors, for example requiring consent before it is sold or shared or used for targeted advertising. Where local law requires the consent of a parent or guardian for any of the processing described in this policy, users aged 16 and 17 should use the Game only with that consent.

For all users, the Game asks Google to turn off personalized advertising and remarketing and to limit ads to content rated for teenagers or lower (see section 5). These settings do not replace any consent required by local law, and we do not claim that they alone meet every legal requirement that may apply to minors. If you are under 18, you can use the privacy options described in section 5 where they are available, and you or your parent or guardian can contact us as described in section 16.

This intended audience is not the Game's content rating. The content rating (for example PEGI or ESRB) is assigned separately through the IARC rating system and is shown on the Game's Google Play page.

16. Your rights and requests about your data

If you are in the EU, the UK or Switzerland, you have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data, to restrict processing, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, to data portability and to withdraw your consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before.

If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law, you may have rights such as to know, access, correct or delete personal information, to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing" and to appeal our decision on your request.

Because we do not keep Game data on our own systems, you can use these options:

How to delete the Game's data, and what may remain with Google or Unity, is explained on the Dreadreef Pirate Battle data deletion page. For any request you can write to support@offquantumstudios.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority; in Italy, this is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

17. Changes to this policy

If we update the Game in a way that processes information differently, we will update this policy before the new version is released and change the "Last updated" date above.
