Start screen: the Cat Logistics logo, a warehouse cat carrying a package and the “Level 5” button in an illustrated warehouse.

The project

Cat Logistics is a smartphone puzzle game set in a warehouse run by cats. Each level starts with colored packages mixed across the shelves, and the player moves them until every shelf holds a single color.

There is one rule: a package can go onto an empty shelf or onto a package of the same color, and each shelf holds four. The more colors there are, the more moves need planning.

The challenge

A sorting puzzle takes seconds to understand: the work is keeping it clear and interesting level after level.

  • Make the mechanic immediate, something you learn by playing.
  • Keep packages and shelves readable with many colors on a phone screen.
  • Increase the difficulty gradually, without jumps.
  • Add rewards and customization without cluttering the interface.
  • Keep the game smooth and easy to follow on Android.

Design choices

  • Readable gameplay

The screen is divided into two areas: the warehouse scene above and the puzzle below. Each color is paired with a distinctive symbol, designed to help color-blind players identify packages without relying on color alone. When a package is selected, it lifts slightly to provide immediate visual feedback.

Level 5 in progress: the warehouse scene with cats at work above, and below the shelves with colored packages to sort.
  • Gradual progression

Play starts with three colors; new colors and shelves arrive gradually, up to eleven colors. At the end of each level, a panel shows what was earned and how close the next unlock is.

Level 5 completed: the “Awesome!” message, the kibble and mice earned, and progress toward new backgrounds, shelves and packages.
  • Mobile-first UI

Everything is designed for a phone held upright: one tap on the package and one on the destination, or a single tap with Auto Move. Large buttons, full-width panels and an interface that adapts to the notches and edges of different phones.

Settings: sound and music, language, Auto Move, Google Play Games sign-in, contact and privacy options, with the beta version number.
  • Customization and rewards

20 backgrounds, 10 package styles and 10 shelf styles unlock through progression and are bought with the in-game currencies, kibble and mice. Daily rewards follow a seven-day cycle. Themes and rewards have their own screens, outside the match.

Themes screen: warehouse backgrounds unlocked by level or with in-game currency, with the Backgrounds, Packages and Shelves tabs.

Daily rewards: seven days of kibble and mice, with the richest reward on day seven.
